KAM Servicing Newsletter
Here at
KAM we are here for all your motoring needs this Spring and so if you are
having any car issues just call KAM.
Maybe your MOT is due or you’ve been ignoring a sound for a long time.
Whatever the problem big or small, the KAM team are here to help!!
Our Mots
start from just £29.99 and so why not come and take advantage of our low
prices.
With the holidays approaching we would
advise that if you are planning days out and holidays that you get your car
checked. If you haven’t got time for a full car check, ensure that you get the
engine bay levels and tyres checked. These are very important and if your
levels are running low this can have adverse effects on your car. What may seem
like a small issue can quickly escalate and become an almighty gremlin, which
will prove costly.
Listen
to the professionals and get your car checked.
Before
you embark on your travels just pop down to your nearest KAM Servicing depot
and we will happily check and top up your levels. It is always better to be
safe than sorry and we are sure our customers feel the same.
Another
holiday favourite is dusting off the motor home and taking to new plains far
and wide. Here at KAM Servicing we are Class 7 MOT testers and we can take care
of all your motorhome needs. Our state of the art MOT ramps are designed to
carry out quality repairs and allow us to find and fix any faults that may lie
within. As an independent garage here at KAM we can also offer much lower
prices than the main dealers. So bring your motorhome down to KAM and make sure
your holiday goes without a glitch.
KAM are
the largest independent garage network in the midlands and we bring you high
quality repairs at the lowest prices.
We would
like to inform all of our faithful readers of the great work of the homeless
charity The Canaan Trust. We have been long time sponsors of the Canaan Trust
and we donated as well as being involved in their many fundraisers.
This
year we were involved in their annual ‘Sleep Out’. Many have signed up for
the event which will saw volunteers sleep out on Market Square, Long Eaton on
Friday 19th April.
Our very
own Amazing Antony and Super Sara slept out as well as Benjamin Button
and we are looking for sponsors.
We hope
you will join us in sponsoring and donating to this great cause. The local 6 of
our KAM depots are stocked with buckets, which our generous customers will be
able to donate to.
As well
as this we have also created a website page for all those who can’t get down to
the depots. Just go to www.justgiving.com/kamservicing and
donate as little or as much as you can. The money raised will allow The Canaan
Trust to undertake their great work in helping to house and educate the
homeless in Erewash.
Here at
KAM we are big believers in investing within the community and so we feel
privileged to be such a big part of the community. Our family run business was
founded in Long Eaton and so with such strong ties we could not just sit back
and not act on this increasing problem.
Our boys
are out 7 days a week and have seen the problem of homelessness grown over the
years. That is why we have teamed up with Kevin Curtis from the Canaan Trust
and will be providing full use of our KAM vans.
Let’s
all help to put the problem of homelessness to bed this Easter!!
You
can find out more at www.facebook.com/kamservicing
and www.twitter.com/kamservicing
and on our blog at www.drkev-kam.blogspot.com
.
Remember
faithful reader, our team of dedicated and hardworking staff at the branches in
Sutton, Long Eaton, Bulwell, Stapleford, Beeston and Belper along with our
bodywork shop are open every day of the week, EXCLUDING Sunday’s, while the
lads at our Sawley and Heanor workshops are at your service seven days a week,
keeping your car where it belongs. ON THE ROAD.
So
until next week faithful reader, drive safely and keep it shiny side up.

Canaan Trust Sleep Out 2013
KAM are very proud
sponsors of the Canaan Trust charity in Long Eaton. We were heavily involved in
their fundraising last year in their successful bed push events.
The events raised a lot
of money and we were very happy to be able to help out this great homeless
charity. This year we are gearing up again for another big event in the Canaan
Trust calendar- the Canaan Trust Big Sleep Out 2013.It will take place on Market Place, Long Eaton on 19th April and all sleepers are welcome. Those taking part will be the Mayor Mayor Jennifer Cull and MP Jessica Lee as well as our very own KAM Team.
Amazing Antony and Super Sara will be participating in the event from 8pm to 7am and all of KAM is getting on board to donate and sponsor as much as we can. d we hope you will join in by sponsoring them.
For those who do not know
the Canaan Trust is an independent charity that provides vital help for
homeless men aged 16-54. They provide a safe haven for people who have fallen
on hard times and help them to rebuild their lives.
They are based in Long
Eaton and help the homeless in the whole of Erewash- Nottingham and Derby. As a company that was founded in Long Eaton here at KAM we are choose projects that we know will benefit our community. This is why we have partnered with the Canaan Trust to sponsor this year’s Sleep Out.
We want to raise awareness
of the plight of the homeless and we hope you will join us. You can donate as
little as £1 in the donation buckets in all of our depots. You can also go
online and donate at our Just Giving page at www.justgiving.com/kamservicing
We can make a real
difference and help those in our community who have lost everything.
The Canaan Trust undertakes great work, giving each person the attention
they need and help in all areas including housing and education. But they do
need our help to provide these fantastic services...
Let’s all do something great this Easter and help those on our own
doorstep!!
KAM will be there on the night- Will You??

Mr B's Focus Farce
Hello faithful readers I hope everyone is well. Here at KAM
we are as busy as ever as we take on your cars. As you know this extreme
weather can have adverse affects on your car and this is where the KAM team can
help. Our talented staff are on hand at all of our depots across Derby and
Nottingham and we can take care of all your motoring needs. With the cold
weather to ensue we would recommend that you come down and let us undertake a
free, no obligations safety check on your car. We will ensure that your car is
checked thoroughly and that any faults are quickly found and fixed. Our prices
are the best in the Midlands and we will ensure that you are kept safe and that
your wallet does not suffer as a result. Our website also has many money saving
vouchers and all you have to do is print them off and bring them in when you
next visit. Here at KAM we want to take care of your car and our prices are a
fraction of those of our competitors.
This week we
received a visit from an irate Mr B who came to our Sawley depot on the cusp of
giving up on his car. “Kev I just can’t take it anymore with this car, it just
is not what it used to be and I have exhausted my time and money trying to get
it fixed. You are my last hope.” Mr B was in deed in a desperate state and needed
for his car to be fixed. But what was behind Mr B’s frustration? “Kev I have
taken it to 3 garages and none of them can find the problem.” The car in
question was a Ford Focus and the problem besieging it was that at between 2
and a half thousand and 3 and a half thousand revs the car was holding back.
This was a strange occurrence and one that Mr B had spent much time trying to
get fixed. “They have replaced the air filter, the fuel filter, flushes,
service, you name it my car has had it. Now I am trusting that you can help me
out and restore the reputation of the motoring trade.” This was quite a large
task but here at KAM we do not shy away from hard work and we promised to Mr B
that we would restore his car and hopefully his faith in garages. He was
whisked away in one of our courtesy cars and we promised to keep him updated on
all the cars developments.
It was
Diagnostic Dan’s turn to solve this week’s mystery and he was straight to work
with his diagnostic machines ready and waiting to go. The machines were plugged
up and after a short while the results was released. The machine pointed to a
problem in the fuel tank lift pump and so Dan would need to do some further
investigating. First he removed the fuel tank, which houses both the lift pump
and the fuel gauge sender and sends it all via the fuel filter and the injector
pump to the engine. After some
pondering the famous words rang out “I’ve got it Kev.”
It so transpired that
the fuel pipe from the lift pump was restricting the amount of fuel going to
the diesel injector pump and had subsequently caused a slight fault with the
lift pump as well. This had been the reason for the holding back. Dan used our
state of the art equipment to fix the fuel pipe and his know-how to affect a
repair on the lift pump and the rest of the car was reassembled ready for the
road test. Dan embarked on the road test and returned with a smile adorning his
face. “We did it Kev. This car is back in the fast lane.”
![]() |
| Paul and Som at our Sawley depot!! |
The car was fixed and the KAM team were happy we could help
out Mr B. He was even happier to have his car back to its best and we made sure
to book him in for a follow up to ensure that the problem would not return. He
returned and was ecstatic at the KAM teams successful gremlin hunting. “Kev it
feels like a brand new car still. Thank you. Finally a garage that puts
customers first.”

Mr S's EML Emergency
Hello
faithful readers this week as the winter chill overcomes we have been very busy
tending to your broken down cars. I must warn you that extreme weather
conditions can cause a multitude of problems within your car and so I must
suggest that you get your car checked by the dedicated KAM team. Here at KAM we
want to keep you safe and so we will happily undertake a free safety check on
your car and as the checks are no obligations it is up to you whether you want
the repairs undertaking. We will ensure that your car receives the attention it
deserves and that all repairs are undertaken at a price that suits you.
The dragon slaying and heroics continue here
at KAM and this week was no different. Although our mechanics had to show how
dedicated they really are when we received a call long after our 7 depots had
closed. It was on a Sunday night that we received a call from Mr S, who called
our emergency number because he was in such a predicament. “Kev I read about
your 24 hour recovery and I need your help. My car has broken down and I don’t
know what to do.”
Mr S had become stranded on the M1 near Sheffield, his car
had been cutting our intermittently and now the EML (engine management light)
has also surfaced. We did not hesitate, we sent out our ‘twuck wid da fwashin
lights’ to rescue Mr S and we dropped of a courtesy car so that he could get on
with the rest of his week uninterrupted. As an added component Mr S was also
one of our serving troops abroad and would be deployed later on in the week. So
we would need to fix the car so that Mr S could make his way back to Portsmouth
in a matter of days. The car in
question- a Seat Altea- was taken back to our Sawley depot ready for one of our
mechanics to get to work urgently.
The next morning the boys arrived nice and
early and it was the turn of Diagnostic Dan to take the wheel on this one. The
Seat lay lifeless and it was not long till Dan had hoisted the car up onto the
ramp and was already making his preliminary observations. When these
observations did not show any visible faults Dan then hooked the car up to one
of our state of the art diagnostic machines. After a short while the results
were released from the machine and the famous words rang out. “I’ve got it
Kev.” It so transpired that the induction hose pipe, which is made of rubber
had a small almost undetectable hole in it. This had in turn led to an
inability to build boost pressure within the car. This had been the reason for
the car cutting out and the appearance of the EML light.
All
that was needed was a new induction hose pipe, which arrived promptly from our
fantastic suppliers and Dan fitted it with meticulous attention to detail. The
engine fault codes were then cleared and the moment of truth was here. Dan sat
behind the wheel and turned the key in the ignition and... The car roared back
to life. “We did it Kev. This car is back in the fast lane.”

Mr G's 'A Class' Service
Hello faithful readers it has been another busy week at KAM
as we help to get your cars back on the road. Our recently opened Beeston depot
is doing well as more and more customers take advantage of our great services
and low prices. Here at KAM we have many offers and we want to save you money.
From exhaust checks to topping up levels, here at KAM we have all the corners
covered.
I would also like to take a minute to reach out to the
travellers among you who will be embarking out onto the open road in a motor
home or camper van this summer. As a camper van man myself I like nothing more
then hopping in and taking Mandy and the kids out for the summer to far off
lands. It is a British tradition and one many of our readers will no doubt be
experiencing this summer. But before you go on that much needed holiday make
sure to get your motor home or camper van checked. Here at KAM we have the
space and equipment needed to take on most makes and models of car and we will
give your motor home a thorough check.
We want to keep you safe and that means
making sure that your motor home is fault free and ready to go. Our talented
mechanics are specialists in motor home repair and so all you need to worry
about is who is going to get the big bed.
We will ensure that your motor home passes its MOT and we can undertake
all repairs, big and small. So don’t let those pesky gremlins ruin your holiday
come down to KAM now for the most comprehensive motor home repairs at
unbeatable prices.
We would like to
announce that we have recently introduced an emergency hotline for those of our
customers who feel the wrath of the gremlins outside of office hours. The
number is 07966320662 and it was on this number that I received a call from Mr
G who was beside himself with worry over his Mercedes A Class. Mr G had
returned home and after parking up had realised that his main beam light
remained on even after the engine had been switched off. After some playing
around with the switch he was none the wiser and so he needed the KAM team’s
help.
It was 8pm but here at KAM we never rest until our customers are
satisfied. “Kev I’m certain the battery will go dead by morning and I’ll have
even more problems to deal with. Please say you can help.” Mr G needed a car
for the next morning so that he could go to an important meeting. With his car
already experiencing problems he did not want to become embroiled with more
gremlins in the morning. “I’m sorry it’s late but this is an emergency.” With
this cry for help it was up to the KAM team to come to the rescue. Diagnostic
Dan loaded up the ‘twuck wid da fwashin lights’ with a courtesy car for Mr G
and returned back to the garage with the broken down car.
We got to work on it the next morning and after stripping
back the steering wheel and deactivating the air bag we were able to easily
locate the fault. It so transpired that the light switch mountings, which
attach to the steering column, had broken and had in turn made the switch fail
to turn the lights off. All that was
needed was to rethread the switch mountings and a new switch was fitted after
quick delivery from our fantastic suppliers. Dan tested the car and the switch
was fixed.
Later Mr G came back to the garage to pick his car up. He
was very happy to have his car fixed and was especially happy with KAM’s all
hours’ service. “Wow Kev, KAM really do care about the customers, I’ve never
seen such commitment from a garage before. You really do go above and
beyond.”

Mrs D's Nissan Nuisance

Hello faithful readers and welcome to another week of adventures from the KAM team. We have been very busy this week as you continue to heed the call and more and more of your cars are being restored to perfect health. You can leave your comments, questions and queries at our facebook page at www.facebook.com/kamservicing and our twitter page at www.twitter.com/dr_kev.
This week we received a visit from Mrs D who was a new customer here at KAM and was in need of our team’s help. As she approached the Belper depot she looked visibly upset and we would have to placate her using our expert knowledge, but first a coffee was in order. After Mrs D had calmed down a little she explained her car’s recent problems and the continuing woes she had suffered. “Kev my car has not been right for a while. I went to my previous garage 4 times and spent over £800 and yet here I am, out of pocket and with a faulty car.” Mrs D explained that her car had been holding back at 2500-3000 revs and this was making for a very uncomfortable drive and a lot of inconvenience. The car in question was a Nissan Note and Mrs D was eager to have her car back as soon as possible. Mrs D was a voluntary worker and was eagerly anticipating the decision by city council to cut funds to Derbyshire voluntary groups. “Kev I can’t believe it. Our group is doing important work within the community and we may have to go under. My car being faulty is the least of my problems but I really could do without this.” Mrs D was a member of a well-known voluntary organization in Derby and was very upset to hear when their funding was cut last month. But there was a ray of hope as the city council cabinet was to meet on Tuesday night to reconsider the decision and to hopefully keep these organizations open.
“Kev look I am quite pre-occupied at the moment and we are really hoping this decision
will get overturned. But while we wait I would really appreciate it if you could fix my car with no hassle. I work a lot on the Internet and so have done my research. I have read that you are the best garage in the Midlands and a lot of my friends recommended you. So I’m here to put my faith in you and I’m hoping at least you can bring me some good news.”
We took all of Mrs D’s details and then she was whisked away in one of our new courtesy cars. As soon as she was off to save Derby’s disenfranchised, we got straight to work on her car. Benjamin Button was this week’s mystery solver and he began by plugging the car up to one of our state of the art diagnostic machines and awaited the results. A short wile later the infamous words rang out “I’ve got it Kev.” It so transpired that the lambda or oxygen sensor was working outside of its parameters and this had been the reason for the car’s sporadic revving. This had been quite a simple case for our talented Ben and it was surprising to us that other garages had failed to spot such an easily identifiable and easily fixed fault. After a quick call to our fantastic suppliers the part arrived promptly and Ben replaced and fitted the new sensor with military style precision. Then came the road test and we made sure that we took it on a long road test so that we could see all the revs and ensure that the car was fixed. Ben returned and shouted “We did it Kev. This car is back on the fast track.” All this was done at a fraction of the price that Mrs. D had paid for the last 4 visits to her previous garage.
Mrs D arrived later and was ecstatic to have her car back to its best and road worthy once again. Although the decision on the organizations is yet to be made she was very happy to have one aspect of her life not in disarray. “Wow Kev I can’t believe it, you really helped me out and it is great to see that in a time of uncertainty there are still good, honest people willing to help out.”
Remember faithful reader, our team of dedicated and hard working staff at the branches in Sutton, Long Eaton, Bulwell and Belper along with our bodywork shop are open every day of the week, EXCLUDING Sunday’s, while the lads at our Sawley and Heanor workshops are at your service seven days a week, keeping your car where it belongs. So until next week faithful reader, drive safely and keep it shiny side up.
