Canaan Trust Sleep Out 2013

Hello faithful readers it has been a very busy week here at KAM and we would like to tell everyone about the successful Canaan Trust Sleep Out that took place  on 19th April 2013.

As you may know we are long time sponsors of the Canaan Trust and are always looking to help the people within our community.

It was a great night and all the KAM boys and girls came out to support our very own Amazing Antony and Super Sara. They pitched up their tent alongside all the other sleepers and braved the cold to sleep rough all night. Decked out in their KAM Servicing onesies our team did us proud and helped to raise a lot of money.

Mayor Jennifer Culls and MP Jessica Lee also took part in the event held on Market Place, Long Eaton and gave great speeches to keep everyone’s spirits high.

The KAM team were very happy to be a part of the event and our very own Senator Shaun presented Canaan Trust manager Kevin Curtis with the grand total raised by KAM- £500.  Thanks to all those who so kindly donated to this great cause. All the KAM boys, girls, families, friends and customers gave very generously and now we can help the local homeless to rebuild their lives.

Many of you may not be aware of the growing problem of homelessness but it exists and is increasing. More and more people are finding themselves the victims of circumstance and the Canaan Trust is there to help.

KAM decided to back this great cause because we think we should help the people of our community who are in desperate need of our help. It is always rewarding to give back and we feel privileged to be part of this great cause.

The Canaan Trust needs £125,000 to run each year and we want people to donate as much as they can so that we can help put the problem of homelessness to bed.

The KAM team’s Rickee ‘the rockstar’ paid a visit to the Canaan Trust headquarters in Long Eaton and we can tell you the money is going to a great cause.

Rickee said: “After going to the Canaan Trust and spending some time with Kevin I saw just how great the work the Canaan Trust do is. There definitely is a stigma attached to homelessness especially males and we just want people to see that these people need our help not our scorn.”

Canaan Trust manager Kev Curtis also explained why homeless men in particular were not seen as a priority. He said: “Men are not given the same access to council housing and so they end up on the street. Sleeping in tents and often gets abused by members of the public. We want to help these men rebuild their lives and we give them the skills to make a better life for themselves.”

“Thanks to the KAM team for their continued support- they have been very generous by providing vans and banners and generally seeing that the Sleep Out was a success. The £500 that was donated will go a long way towards helping those in need. Hopefully people will follow KAM’s lead and help us out.”

To donate go to your local KAM depot where we have donation buckets at the ready (they are getting heavy too) or go online and donate at www.justgiving.com/kamservicing and you can pay with credit/debit car or via PayPal.

Thanks to all those who have donated- we really appreciate it.

You can leave your comments, questions and queries at www.twitter.com/kamservicing and on our blog at www.drkev-kam.blogspot.com .

Remember faithful reader, our team of dedicated and hardworking staff at the branches in Sutton, Long Eaton, Bulwell, Stapleford, Beeston and Belper along with our bodywork shop are open every day of the week, EXCLUDING Sunday’s, while the lads at our Sawley and Heanor workshops are at your service seven days a week, keeping your car where it belongs. KAM Servicing Newsletter

Here at KAM we are here for all your motoring needs this Spring and so if you are having any car issues just call KAM.  Maybe your MOT is due or you’ve been ignoring a sound for a long time. Whatever the problem big or small, the KAM team are here to help!!

Our Mots start from just £29.99 and so why not come and take advantage of our low prices.

With the  holidays approaching we would advise that if you are planning days out and holidays that you get your car checked. If you haven’t got time for a full car check, ensure that you get the engine bay levels and tyres checked. These are very important and if your levels are running low this can have adverse effects on your car. What may seem like a small issue can quickly escalate and become an almighty gremlin, which will prove costly.

Listen to the professionals and get your car checked.

Before you embark on your travels just pop down to your nearest KAM Servicing depot and we will happily check and top up your levels. It is always better to be safe than sorry and we are sure our customers feel the same.

Another holiday favourite is dusting off the motor home and taking to new plains far and wide. Here at KAM Servicing we are Class 7 MOT testers and we can take care of all your motorhome needs. Our state of the art MOT ramps are designed to carry out quality repairs and allow us to find and fix any faults that may lie within. As an independent garage here at KAM we can also offer much lower prices than the main dealers. So bring your motorhome down to KAM and make sure your holiday goes without a glitch.

KAM are the largest independent garage network in the midlands and we bring you high quality repairs at the lowest prices.

We would like to inform all of our faithful readers of the great work of the homeless charity The Canaan Trust. We have been long time sponsors of the Canaan Trust and we donated as well as being involved in their many fundraisers.

This year we were involved in their annual ‘Sleep Out’. Many have signed up for the event which will saw volunteers sleep out on Market Square, Long Eaton on Friday 19th April.

Our very own Amazing Antony and Super Sara slept out as well as Benjamin Button and we are looking for sponsors.

We hope you will join us in sponsoring and donating to this great cause. The local 6 of our KAM depots are stocked with buckets, which our generous customers will be able to donate to.

As well as this we have also created a website page for all those who can’t get down to the depots. Just go to www.justgiving.com/kamservicing and donate as little or as much as you can. The money raised will allow The Canaan Trust to undertake their great work in helping to house and educate the homeless in Erewash.

Here at KAM we are big believers in investing within the community and so we feel privileged to be such a big part of the community. Our family run business was founded in Long Eaton and so with such strong ties we could not just sit back and not act on this increasing problem.

Our boys are out 7 days a week and have seen the problem of homelessness grown over the years. That is why we have teamed up with Kevin Curtis from the Canaan Trust and will be providing full use of our KAM vans.

Let’s all help to put the problem of homelessness to bed this Easter!!

KAM and The Canaan Trust embark on 2nd Bed Push

Hello faithful readers it has been another adventurous week at KAM as we fight away more gremlins and get you back on the road. We have seen an influx of air conditioning faults over the past week as the erratic weather patterns continue. The warm weather is expected to continue so to save yourself from the heat come down to KAM Servicing and let us keep you cool for (the intermittently hot days of) the summer.

The Olympics has finally ended after a glorious 2 and a half weeks of sporting pageantry and triumph it is time for the comedown. But we can look back on a spectacle of sport, which has provided us with some everlasting memories. From Mo Farah to Jessica Ennis the athletics were must see television and have created new sporting superstars. Our fantastic athletes won 65 medals, of which 29 were gold. This was the best total since 1908 and I for one am going to miss watching all the thrilling sports that have entertained us. Gold for Andy Murray and the continued brilliance of Usain Bolt are just some of the highlights and all I can say is bring on Rio 2016.

This week we do not bring you the heroics of the KAM team bust instead we would like to tell you all about the heroics of the Canaan Trust. The Canaan Trust is a Christian charity that helps the homeless in Nottingham and the surrounding areas. Having been established since 1995, they do very important work in helping homeless people get back on their feet. They provide accommodation and many other services from counselling to education. KAM have partnered with the Canaan Trust and are hoping to make a difference to Erewash’s homeless.

KAM Servicing is proud to be sponsoring the Canaan Trust and we were very happy to provide our ‘twuck wid da fwashin lights’ for their second bed push on Saturday 11th August. The push was launched from Beeston town square by Mayor Margaret Handley and the KAM team were there to support the cause. Amazing Antony and Super Sara were on hand to drive the accompanying ‘twuck’ to keep all the volunteers safe on the road. The volunteers gave out informational flyers to passersby and carried donation buckets, which the pubic filled very generously.

The group then made their way over to our newly opened Beeston depot for a special presentation. Here they were met by the KAM boys, Super Sunny, Fearless Frank and Tornado Tyla who all joined in the festivities. In a short break from gremlin hunting the boys all took the time to show their support for the cause and even tipped their own money into the collecting buckets.

It was also here that KAM were delighted to present the Canaan Trust with a £250 donation. The cheque was presented by our very own Super Sunny and Rickee the Rockstar to Canaan Trust manager Kevin Curtis who was very happy with KAM’s contribution.

He said: “We want say a big thank you to Som and all at KAM Servicing for helping us, for sponsoring all our promotional banners and for the generous cheque for £250 to help support our work.
“The amount they donated is very generous and it will help us to carry put the vital services we provide for the homeless.  Thank you to everyone who has donated so far and hopefully we can raise more money and continue to get more people off the street.”

The money raised is still being counted but it will all be put towards the £125,000 needed to keep the Canaan Trust running each year. KAM wanted to help out because of our close ties to Nottingham and especially Long Eaton.

KAM Servicing, Area manager Senator Shaun said: “Our business started in Long Eaton so we feel like it is our obligation to help the people in this community. Our mechanics are out and about 7 days a week and we have noticed that homelessness has gone up. So if we can help get just one person get off the street it will all be worth it. The Canaan Trust deserves our support and KAM Servicing is here to help.”

For more details or to donate go to www.canaan-trust.co.uk
Here at KAM we are very happy to be involved in the community, in which we opened our first garage, which continues to be successful to this day. As our success grows so too does our desire to help out. So come and help KAM and the Canaan Trust to put the problem of homelessness to bed.

Mr C's Laguna Lunacy

Hello faithful readers welcome to another week of adventures from the KAM team. We have been very busy as we welcome new customers through our shutters. Whatever the problem, no matter how big the gremlin KAM servicing can get your car back to its best at the lowest prices.

The Olympics have commenced and we are in for a treat over the next fortnight as Britain’s finest compete for gold. The opening ceremony was breathtaking; we have to commend Danny Boyle for displaying Britain in all its glory and doing it on such a grand scale. From the Queen jumping out of a plane to the mishap prone Mr Bean I have not been so glued to my screen in a long time. It was a true spectacle and filled with vivid imagery and memories that will last the ages.
All the family were crowded around the television and it was a great way for the country to come together and celebrate this exciting time. The rings coming together at the top of the stadium was another highlight and I cannot wait to see what team GB comes out with at the end of the two weeks.

On Saturday 28th July the KAM team teamed up with the Canaan Trust to take part in a bed push from Ilkeston to Long Eaton. The Canaan Trust is a Christian charity based in Long Eaton who helps homeless people across Erewash. They help to find them accommodation as well as helping with education and rehabilitation into society. KAM are very happy to be a part of this great cause and 2 of our trusted ‘twucks wid da fwashin lights’ accompanied the bed and volunteers who were collecting in buckets. The public were very generous and we came back with coin-laden buckets, which will make a real difference to the Canaan Trust.

This week we also managed to fit in some good old mechanics when we received a visit from Mr C. He arrived at our Beeston depot in his Renault Laguna, which from the outset looked far from the drudging, lifeless cars we usually see at KAM. But one thing that was familiar was the sad expressions on Mr C’s face as he exited the car and made his way to the reception. “Kev you have to help me, it’s the air conditioning it is really starting to annoy me.” Now this is not usually a complaint we get as most people like to have their air con on full force, especially during these hot summer days. “Kev I have had the air conditioning re-gassed three times and there still seems to be a leak in the air conditioning system. The garage I go to say they can’t fix it and so I decided to give the ‘best garage in the Midlands’ a go. Please say you can help.”

Mr C had paid for three re-gases and the garage had failed to get to the bottom of the problem and so it was up tot the KAM team to help him out. We assured Mr C that we would get to the root of the actual problem and after all the details were taken, we whisked him off in one of our state of the art courtesy cars.

Diagnostic Dan nominated himself as this week’s mystery solver and he got straight to work. First he undertook a system leak test. This is when a nitrogen gas and a UV dye are injected into the air conditioning system. After 20 minutes a trace of the UV dye was found on the pipe that goes to the air conditioning condenser. The reason that the air conditioning had had to be re-gassed 3 times was because of a broken seal on the pipe to the condenser, where all the gas had been escaping. All that remained was to replace the seals on the pipe and to re-gas the system for a final time.

The air conditioning system was then put back together and Mr C picked up his car later that day. We explained the problem and how we had fixed it and even invited him back in a few weeks time so that he could see that there would be no more leaks in the near future. Mr C returned a few weeks later and was very happy to report that his car had not suffered any more problems. “Wow Kev, I can’t believe it, I have enjoyed full on air conditioning for weeks now and it’s all down to you and your team. I definitely made the right decision to come to the KAM team.”

You can leave your comments, questions and queries at www.twitter.com/dr_kev, and our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/kamservicing.

Remember faithful reader, our team of dedicated and hard working staff at the branches in Sutton, Long Eaton, Bulwell, Beeston and Belper along with our bodywork shop are open every day of the week, EXCLUDING Sunday’s, while the lads at our Sawley and Heanor workshops are at your service seven days a week, keeping your car where it belongs. ON THE ROAD.

So until next week faithful reader, drive safely and keep it shiny side up.

KAM teams up with the Canaan Trust for Charity Bed Push

Hundreds of people came out to support a bed push in aid of the Canaan Trust, and helped to raise vital funds for charity.
The Canaan Trust, based in Long Eaton embarked on a bed push from Ilkeston to Long Eaton on Saturday 28th July to raise money and awareness about the increasing problem of homelessness in Erewash.
Many of the Canaan Trust’ own volunteers were out in force and helped to educate the public by handing out leaflets about the organisation’s great work. They also carried donation buckets, which were generously filled by the public. They were accompanied on their quest by two vans courtesy of KAM Servicing.
The Canaan Trust has been established since 1995 and provides assistance and help in the community for homeless people. They cover a vast area of Nottingham and their vital work is helping to get people off the street and into homes and employment.

The aim of the bed push was to try and help raise the £125,000 needed to keep the Canaan Trust running each year.
The bed push began its journey at Market Square in Ilkeston at 10am and was launched by the Mayor of Erewash Councillor Jennifer Hulls. It then went through Stapleford and Sandiacre before finishing in Long Eaton at around 2pm.
KAM Servicing Garages from Long Eaton sponsored the event. They provided all supplies such as banners and posters and 2 vans to accompany the bed safely on its travels.

Canaan Trust manager Kevin Curtis said: “We have been very grateful for the support especially from KAM Servicing. They have done a lot to help us and providing the vans was very generous. We did the push because we just want people to know that homelessness is not just a city problem but it is going on right here on our doorstop. We want to help these homeless people get back into society and to lead independent lives.”

KAM are very happy to be a part of this great cause. For more information go to  http://www.kam-servicing-sawley.co.uk/promotions.cfm?id=3517

KAM Updates

Hello faithful readers

Here at KAM we have been very busy as more and more of you come through our doors.
Our Beeston depot is growing increasingly everyday as we gain more loyal customers and our other depots are enjoying new gremlin fighting missions!!

I would also like to say that KAM have made a conscious effort over the years to stay involved in the local community. As we started our humble beginnings in Long Eaton we have always tried to give back in whatever way we can.

This year we started with our sponsorship of 4th Dimension MMA Nottingham Gym in 4 Brothers House, Wilsthorpe Road, Long Eaton- The sponsorship will go toward this summer's 'deadlift' challenge in which the winner will win prizes courtesy of KAM.

We have also teamed up with the Canaan Trust in Long Eaton to help them with their charity bed push  on Saturday 28th July. Our trusted KAM van is to push the bed from Ilkeston to Long Eaton.

Our twitter has also been gaining a lot of followers so if you are a big tweeter go on over to our page and give us your thoughts.

Our facebook page is also up and running so go over now and like our page.

I will be posting much more details of all of KAM's latest adventures so stay tuned....

Dr Kev
