Mr B's Megane Misfortune

Hello faithful readers, I hope everyone is enjoying the summer. With the kids off and summer holidays planned make sure to get your car in the best condition it can be. Here at KAM we want to be a garage that you can trust and so we will not undertake any unnecessary work. Instead we will happily carry out tests to see where the problem may lie. These tests are free and are no obligations so you can decide what you want to have done to your car. We also use the highest quality parts an so any car repairs will have long lasting effects and we guarantee that your car will be fault free. If your car is suffering from any problems- even if they seem small- do not hesitate to bring your car in to your nearest KAM depot

After weeks of getting caught up in the Olympics and the great work we have been involved in with the Canaan Trust, this week it was back to some good old fashioned mechanics. Beeston was the setting for this week’s mystery and Mr B was this week’s lucky customer. “Oh my goodness Kev, I can’t believe this- this could not have happened at a worse time.” This is the type of panicked tone we here at KAM are used to and so it would be important to get all the details so that we could help Mr B as soon as possible. “Kev it is my Renault Megane it has decided to die on me this morning. Sorry to be dramatic but I have a job interview and I cannot be late. There is just a horrible clicking noise coming from the car and I don’t know what to do. Please say you can help.”

We assured Mr B that we would come and pick him up and that he would not have to miss his interview. Mr B was in desperate need of the KAM team’s help and first things first we would need to get him a courtesy car. I scanned the forecourt and to my horror there were no courtesy cars available. “We just gave the last one to Mrs J.” shouted Diagnostic Dan.

Now this is not a problem the KAM team usually face but as we had been so busy the courtesy cars had all been loaned out. We could not let Mr B down and so Tasmanian Trev loaded up the ‘twuck wid da fwashin lights’ and attached my car to the back of it. My car is fully insured for customers to use and this was an emergency. Trev embarked on the trip and dropped the car off to Mr B so that he could make his interview in time. Mr B was ecstatic and after giving all his details the lifeless Megane was bought back to the garage.

Benjamin Button was this week’s mystery solver and he got straight to work by plugging the car up to our state of the art machines. Ben had a feeling that the problem may be an electrical one and so this was his first line of investigation. After a short while of testing the results were released from the machine. Ben surveyed them and within seconds the infamous words rang out. “I’ve got it Kev.”

It so transpired that the push start/stop switch on the car had burnt out. This had been due to worn wiring and this had been the cause of the car’s inability to start. Ben had been right in predicting an electrical fault and now it was time to find the best and most cost efficient way to fix it. This was easy and all that was required was a new switch-which arrived promptly from our suppliers- and some simple rewiring.

Ben first fitted the new switch and then the re-wiring was undertaken with military style precision. With all the work done it was time for the moment of truth. The boys gathered around the Megane and waited to see whether this would be another successful job for the KAM team. Ben’s finger approached the button, he pushed and after a second…. The car jolted back to life. “We did it Kev.” Shouted Ben over the roar of the engine. “This car is back in the fast lane.”

Mr B arrived later and was elated to have his car back to its best and no longer besieged by problems. “ Thanks Kev, we all know how hard it is to get a job in this economy I just want to thank the team. I’m glad I went on the Good Garage Scheme and found a trustworthy and reliable garage.”

Second Charity Bed Push for the KAM team

KAM Servicing is very happy to be sponsoring The Canaan Trust and will again be embarking on a charity bed push.

Benjamin Button and Wheelie Wayne get the van ready for Saturday

The bed will push off on Saturday 11th August from Beeston Town Square and will be launched by the mayor of Broxtowe Councillor Margaret Handley. It will again end its journey in Long Eaton and we hope to see you out and about in support of this great cause.

The Canaan Trust will be raising awareness of the growing problem of homelessness in Erewash. The trust provides vital help to the homeless and is continuing to raise the £125,000 needed to keep them running each year.

The trusted Canaan Trust volunteers will be out in force with their collection buckets so if you see them out please donate generously.

To donate visit the website at http://www.canaan-trust.co.uk or text ABED14 £1 to 70070 to donate a pound (£2, £3, etc)
KAM Servicing is very happy to be providing the support vehicles for the bed push so that their money raising voyage goes without any hitches.

Here at KAM we are very happy to be involved in community projects and we want to help put the problem of homelessness to bed.
The last bed push was a great success and we want to make this one even bigger and better!!
