Mr B's Focus Farce

Hello faithful readers I hope everyone is well. Here at KAM we are as busy as ever as we take on your cars. As you know this extreme weather can have adverse affects on your car and this is where the KAM team can help. Our talented staff are on hand at all of our depots across Derby and Nottingham and we can take care of all your motoring needs. With the cold weather to ensue we would recommend that you come down and let us undertake a free, no obligations safety check on your car. We will ensure that your car is checked thoroughly and that any faults are quickly found and fixed. Our prices are the best in the Midlands and we will ensure that you are kept safe and that your wallet does not suffer as a result. Our website also has many money saving vouchers and all you have to do is print them off and bring them in when you next visit. Here at KAM we want to take care of your car and our prices are a fraction of those of our competitors.

This week we received a visit from an irate Mr B who came to our Sawley depot on the cusp of giving up on his car. “Kev I just can’t take it anymore with this car, it just is not what it used to be and I have exhausted my time and money trying to get it fixed. You are my last hope.” Mr B was in deed in a desperate state and needed for his car to be fixed. But what was behind Mr B’s frustration? “Kev I have taken it to 3 garages and none of them can find the problem.” The car in question was a Ford Focus and the problem besieging it was that at between 2 and a half thousand and 3 and a half thousand revs the car was holding back.

This was a strange occurrence and one that Mr B had spent much time trying to get fixed. “They have replaced the air filter, the fuel filter, flushes, service, you name it my car has had it. Now I am trusting that you can help me out and restore the reputation of the motoring trade.” This was quite a large task but here at KAM we do not shy away from hard work and we promised to Mr B that we would restore his car and hopefully his faith in garages. He was whisked away in one of our courtesy cars and we promised to keep him updated on all the cars developments.

It was Diagnostic Dan’s turn to solve this week’s mystery and he was straight to work with his diagnostic machines ready and waiting to go. The machines were plugged up and after a short while the results was released. The machine pointed to a problem in the fuel tank lift pump and so Dan would need to do some further investigating. First he removed the fuel tank, which houses both the lift pump and the fuel gauge sender and sends it all via the fuel filter and the injector pump to the engine.  After some pondering the famous words rang out “I’ve got it Kev.”

It so transpired that the fuel pipe from the lift pump was restricting the amount of fuel going to the diesel injector pump and had subsequently caused a slight fault with the lift pump as well. This had been the reason for the holding back. Dan used our state of the art equipment to fix the fuel pipe and his know-how to affect a repair on the lift pump and the rest of the car was reassembled ready for the road test. Dan embarked on the road test and returned with a smile adorning his face. “We did it Kev. This car is back in the fast lane.”

Paul and Som at our Sawley depot!!
The car was fixed and the KAM team were happy we could help out Mr B. He was even happier to have his car back to its best and we made sure to book him in for a follow up to ensure that the problem would not return. He returned and was ecstatic at the KAM teams successful gremlin hunting. “Kev it feels like a brand new car still. Thank you. Finally a garage that puts customers first.”
