Mr K's Freelander Fright

Hello faithful readers it has been another busy week at KAM as we continue to heed the call for quality car repairs. With the incoming cold weather we have seen an abundance of car gremlins encroaching on your cars. But here at KAM we are here to find and fix all faults on your car and we promise to bring you the lowest prices.

It has been a great week for Derby as they won the football at the weekend. I was lucky enough to be in the crowd and would just like to say what a thrilling match it was. There were tense moments, mixed with a lot of fanfare and I hope everyone had a good time- even if your team did lose. I can’t wait till the next game.

Although football did take over the weekend it was back to work on Monday morning as our boys prepared for another busy week at KAM.  It was no exception at the Long Eaton depot where we received a visit from Mr K who was not happy at his car’s continuous problems.

Mr K approached the forecourt in his Landrover Freelander and he did not look happy.  After reaching our warm reception Mr K began to regale all the details of his car and how he had become wary of automotive garages. “Kev, I have taken my car to two other garages and they have failed to successfully diagnose and fix the problem within my car. They looked over it, replaced the parts and still the problem persists.” Mr K explained that he had heard a knocking noise within his car every time he accelerated and had hoped to get the problem fixed weeks ago. “Kev I went to 2 garages and they both replaced different parts- first the prop shaft was changed and then when that didn’t work another garage changed the drive shaft. Needless to say I am pounds down and my car is still faulty.” Mr K was here to get his car fixed and was not willing to pay any more unnecessary expense. “Kev I have read all about you in the paper, on Facebook and Twitter. I trust you can find the problem and so I am putting you to the test.”

Mr K left his car in the trusted hands of the KAM team and he was whisked away in one of our courtesy cars. It was then time for us to get to work and our resident Landrover expert ‘Superman’ Sundeep was to take on this week’s mystery. First it was time to take the car on a road test and the knocking noise could be heard as soon as Sundeep left the forecourt. When he returned he shunned all the state of the art diagnostic equipment and instead proceeded to use some old school mechanics to find the problem. He checked the shafts of the car and then the suspension was also inspected.

Armed with his trusted tools it was not long till the infamous words rang out. “I’ve got it Kev.”  It so transpired that on the rear axle the rubber bush had deteriorated. The rubber bush in the metal frame supports the axle and because it had become worn and unbonded it was now moving back and forth whenever Mr K accelerated. This was causing it to move against other metal components, which had resulted in the noise. The bushes were inactive and so we would need to replace them. The parts were ordered from our fantastic suppliers and it was not long till they arrived. Sundeep then pressed the bushes back into place using our special tools.  “We did it Kev. This car is back on the fast lane.”

Mr K arrived later and to give him total piece we asked him to take the car on a road test so he could be sure that the problem was fixed. He did embark on the road test along with Sundeep and he arrived back at the depot with a smile on his face. “Wow, Kev I can’t believe it. It feels like a new car. I knew I could trust in the KAM team.”
