This week we
received a call from a startled Miss G who had experienced a fright while
driving along the road. “It was a large bang that just came out of nowhere Kev.
I am so scared to get back in.” Miss G was shaken by the noise and was stranded
unable to drive and I need of the KAM team’s help.
Our Sawley depot
was the site of the distress call and it was a rather busy morning for the
boys. We had mysteries being solved left, right and center. Would we be able to
help Miss G? I scored the workshops and spotted Diagnostic Dan busy, diagnostic
machine in hand. Tasmanian Trev had his head tucked under another car and it
appeared that the whole workforce was otherwise occupied with the plight of
other cars. Just as I was about to load up the truck myself a familiar voice
said. “What’s next Kev?” It was Flywheel Lee who had just finished one gremlin
hunting mission and was ready for another.
Lee immediately
loaded up the ‘twuck wid da fwashin lights’ and went upon his mission to rescue
Miss G and her Ford KA.
It was not long
till he returned with a more relaxed Miss G and the lifeless car in tow. We
welcomed Miss G with a nice hot coffee and as she explained again how the
banging noise had come out of nowhere and that she needed her car for the next
day. “I know it’s a lot to ask but I am happy to wait here while you work on
it. I just want to make sure it’s safe to drive and I only trust in the KAM
team.”
Here at KAM safety

a number of FREE checks on request if you feel unsafe in your car. Our talented
technicians will find and fix any and all faults. We guarantee high quality
repairs at the lowest prices so just give us a call.
While Miss G
occupied herself with daytime’s finest TV Lee got straight to work with his
preliminary checks.
It was not long
till the famous words rang through the workshop and even caught the ears of
Miss G who raised a smile. “I’ve got it Kev.”
It so transpired
that the frightening bang did not cause as much damage as we had feared. It was
a simple case of a snapped coil spring, which can occur over a period of time.
Speed bumps and potholes can also be the cause of snapped coil springs so be
careful when you drive. A broken coil spring can cause imbalance in the car and
this can be dangerous while you are driving so Miss G had made the right
decision to call the KAM team. Fortunately for her the damage had not been too
damaging to her car or her purse.
Lee called our fantastic suppliers who arrived
promptly with the replacement parts. A new pair of coil springs were fitted with
expert precision by Lee, as coil springs should always be replaced in pairs due
to tensions & balance of the axle and as with nearly all suspension repairs
we would need to realign the wheels. The alignment was reset using our 4 wheel
laser aligning machine and then it was time for a road test. Miss G asked to
accompany Lee so that she could see the results of the KAM team’s hard work for
herself.
They both embarked
on the road test and upon their return both he and Miss G had huge smiles
adorning their faces. “You did it guys. This car is back in the fast lane.”
Miss G said with delight.
